School Psychologist

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:      

Must possess or be eligible for certification as a K-12 Special Education Teacher, Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12), or Students with Disabilities 1-6 with a willingness to get a 5-9 Extension.

Licensed School Social Worker

  1. Either a valid NYS Licensed or Clinical Social Worker

 Applicants must be able to provide direct school-based services that include but are not limited to: individual and group counseling, family counseling, development of intervention plans and become knowledgeable of both local and county services available to students and their families.

Successful applicant will serve on the Fillmore SEL Team and CSE Committees.  The successful applicant will also complete all duties as requested by the School Superintendent as needed.

Competative
Elementary Teacher - STEAM and Digital Literacy (Anticipated)

By introducing STEAM at a young age, students begin to experience project-based learning that builds their curiosity and creativity for future academic achievement.  Once students have been exposed to STEAM, the new skill set they have learned increases their interest in continuing in the STEAM field.

The teacher would be the lead teacher for a weekly STEAM class. STEAM would be scheduled for each homeroom K-6 for one 30-minute period per week. 

STEAM lessons would:

  • Be designed to incorporate topics of instruction from grade level content areas (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies)
  • Address grade level Computer Science and Digital Literacy Standards
  • Provide mini-lessons on how to appropriately use District devices and platforms

The teacher would also attend team meetings to collaborate and to help build STEAM curriculum.

Elementary Math Intervention/Specialist (Anticipated)
  1. Develop an effective instructional program to accommodate individual needs and varying disabilities using a continuum of service delivery models.
  2. Facilitate the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and reflective development of children at Fillmore central School.
  3. Serve as remediation case manager for students as assigned.
  4. Plan and implement, in collaboration with general education teachers, special education teachers, administrators, and parents/ guardians, individual educational goals to target remediation services in accordance with the Fillmore Central School mission and philosophy and the New York State Department of Education Learning Standards.
  5. Use ongoing assessment to monitor children’s growth, development, strengths, and needs.
  6. Be accountable for fostering students’ academic progress.
  7. Develop long term relationships with children and their families by serving as the primary mentor for each child in their group.

7-12 Literacy Teacher (Anticipated)

K-12 Library Media Specialist (Anticipated)
  • Create a collaborative learning environment for students that nurtures creative problem solving.
  • Manage the Media Center
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with administration, staff, students, parents, community and local public libraries
  • Share with the school community and adhering to collaboratively developed and up-to-date district policies concerning issues such as materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy and acceptable use
  • Embrace the use of instructional technology to engage students and improve learning while providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community
  • Remain current in professional practices and developments, information technologies, and educational research as it pertains to library programs.
  • The school librarian supports students’ success by guiding them in:
    • Reading for understanding, pleasure, and the exploration of diverse viewpoints and genres
    • Using information for defined and self-defined purposes
    • Accessing, evaluating, and communicating information regardless of format.
    • Building on prior knowledge and constructing new knowledge
    • Utilizing information in a variety of formats
    • Collaborating with peers to enhance learning
    • Self-assessing work and the work of collaborative learning groups
  • The school librarian instructs students by:
    • Using a variety of techniques and methodologies appropriate to student abilities while promoting high levels of achievement
    • Incorporating the use of technology to make subject matter learning relevant and enhance student learning outcomes
    • Demonstrating knowledge of and ability to use research-based principals of effective instruction
    • Providing instruction based on the district Information Literacy Curriculum/New York Model Curriculum
    • Engaging in diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of student learning
  • Assist staff in the selection, evaluation, and use of resources, including Internet-based resources
  • Partner with the school community to create meaningful experiences and opportunities to promote a love of reading and lifelong learning
  • Provide and/or plan professional development opportunities in the use of new technologies and school library services within the school and/or district for staff, including other school librarians
